Looks like you need a controller (unless you decide to hardware), a control box cover(again unless you hardware) plug and rope or wire cable. If you go to warn.com, they have parts break downs for all their winches.
Lator.....

Yep, it came with brand new Viking synthetic line.

I found the parts list and it looks like I need Warn Winch Control Replacement Part # 38842... at $250 bucks....

Any advice on hard wiring it in? I wouldn't mind using an in cab set up, but want external control for reelin' her in.

Scott, the most important thing you're missing is the solenoid cover/control box that includes the wiring from the remote socket to the solenoids. The plug on the wired remote is not standard and will need to be replaced if you want to use it with the stock solenoid cover/control box. Those solenoids are really old, and of a style not used in an M8000 for a long time; either the winch is really old or the previous owner has substituted some 8274 winch solenoids. They would work on the M8000 if they are still good.

That plug is actually a pretty ingenious idea! A simple twist lock you can find at any hardware store! If you're going to spend that much I'd go with a contactor like the Albright or similar.
