I'm rebuilding an 8274 and the controller cover is cracked. Need to replace it but it's the REALLY old model which doesn't have the same controller as the new one and Warn can't help me out sooo, if you have a M8000 can you please measure the dimensions of your controller? Pretty please?

There's a fair bit of room underneath them. If yours is only cracked and no pieces missing, you might be able to clean it up, glue is, then add a strip of plactic from a hobby shop to the back side to reinforce it. You can get it in 1/2 or 3/4" wide pieces about 1/16" thick.

That's a great idea, but this one's absolutely knackered. It's cracked, dried out, and chunks missing. Maybe someone else can get lucky and do this though.

Once you get it I'd love a confirmation that the cover from an M8000 fits the older 8274's.
I have a couple I'm rebuilding and even though the covers aren't broken, if I sell one, or both, a new cover will look nicer.

Roger that. You don't have a spare top case w/ gears do you? Mine's functional but cracked. Working on getting one on ebay right now but no guarantees there.

No, sorry, I don't. At least not at the moment. Once I get them torn down and see what condition they are in, maybe. But they both run and aren't leaking or anything, so I'm confident they will be rebuilt.

I too would be interested in hearing if this works. I rebuilt my 8274, but it needs a new solenoid box.
