Warranty pre existing condition question

Hey folks. So I have a 2012 tacoma and it had a speaker intermittent problem and the dealer "fixed" it under warranty but it's still not fixed and now it's out of warranty. Will they still work on it because it was a problem that was originally under warranty? Seems like they should

Probably depends on the dealer and/or you relationship with them. Is it just out of warranty, or did this happen 50k miles ago. Good thing is its just a speaker.

It should be still covered. Any time you have service history showing an issue during the warranty period and it continues to cause issues after the warranty Toyota and Subaru both typically have no issue working to get the issue solved given its clearly a problem that was not solved yet and the warranty time line doesn't have much relevance.

Some other auto makers my experience has been even if its covered you may have a battle to get it fixed.

The dealer cant submit the repair under warranty any longer. It becomes a after warranty adjustment. The factory has made it almost impossible to make a repair outside of warranty. If it is still under SPW(service part warranty) then its a piece of cake.

I have heard so many horror stories about trying to get a Ford truck repaired while still under warranty, I can imagine its a no-go after warranty.

Well, it's only few months out or warranty, but my "relationship" was marred forever when I told the service manager that I would never step foot in his shop again and that I wanted all my information and personal data removed from all mailings and communication. My hope was that another dealer would be able to take up where this one failed.

They should take care of it. They replaced my front diff in my Tundra a couple thousand miles out of warranty and that was a $2500 job...

So having had some sizable post warranty work handled by Toyota. Couple of things your history of the issue is in the Toyota system any dealer can look it up. Toyota has a very active role in what is more or less a slush fund used by area reps to cover issues that should simply not be an issue and is not the owners dime to fix meaning Toyota pays the dealer to fix it etc. Not a big deal especially if you have had it in to fix this already given its now in the records forever and any dealer can look at it and say Oh hey check that out it was an issue before and they clearly didn't fix it so lets give it another try etc.

Regarding dealers.. Just a tip around here all our Toyota dealers are owned by the same parent company which is based about 300 miles away. If you had a really bad experience with your dealer make sure the next dealer you go to is not owned by the same parent company given chances are you will be treated poorly given they will know your history with the other dealer. I'm still waiting for this Auto Network scam in CA to face court charges of price fixing and such... We'll need to wait for the next CA State Attorney given old PAM has big plans and doesn't want to piss off the powerful Auto dealer lobbists.
