Water system using sprayer system?

...While it seems to be available from relatively few retailers, this is a great product. I have no experience with long term reliability yet, but the unit is very well-constructed of high quality parts. It seems to be the sort of thing no expedition rig should be without in its kit, because it can be used for bathing, moving water, or any other task where most non-flammable liquids need to be pumped. And an excellent value, considering the low retail price.

We've been using the Reliance kit for quite some time with our Helton hot shower systems, overall it has proven to be a fairly good pump setup. We have had some notable issue with the switch (won't stay on or off without pushing it a couple extra times) as well as corrosion issues if the pump is stored with any moisture in it. We now instruct users to adequately dry it out prior to use.

Flow rate is obviously dependent on several variables such as pickup tube length and in our case the fact its pushing water through the Helton heat exchanger but we've measured anywhere from .5 to .8 gpm.

I'll post up regarding how this pump performs when I get a chance. We're planning a camping trip in the near future.

I'll note something else I forgot to mention earlier. The box did not contain a set of instructions, so I went to Reliance's web site to see if it was available there. Nope.

But I did see where the On Tap is currently listed as not currently available. Hopefully, Reliance will order up making another lot of these. Otherwise, what you can find in stock is it for now.

Interesting we just got a large order of them from Reliance, ~40 of them as I recall. Maybe this means they are fixing some of the known issues! Its great for a light weight low cost pump but as I've mentioned its good but not great.

Kurt,
Good to hear that your experience has been relatively positive. And that a ExPo supporting vendor has them in stock.

I'd agree that getting the moisture out will certainly help prolong the life of this item. The plastic bag works great to store it from day to day without getting other gear wet. However, dry storage is a good idea. Once dried, then it can go back in the bag.

There is another reason for being cautious about not storing it wet, even in daily use. The wife and I should be making a late fall camping trip soon. If you anticipate freezing conditions, I'd recommend extra caution in getting it mostly dry, because water freezing in it can't be good, just like with any other plumbing.

Basically, I just took the shower head off and suspended it upside down by the pump. Just be careful not to lose the rubber washer when you take the shower head off, or you'll have to use the included spare washer sooner than anticipated as PM.

Of course, a shower in freezing conditions may be problematic for other reasons, but eventually one gets tired of the stink, even if out in the woods:snorkel:
