Welding on the Montero frame

Will welding on the frame of my Montero fry the computer or anything? I know how sketchy car computers can get. Figured I would ask and rather be safe than sorry.

If you'd like to be safe, unhook the negative terminal from your battery before welding. I've welded a ton of stuff without unhooking anything though.

Another good practice is clamp welder ground close as practical to the welding area.
Its to minimise distance high currents travel thru the vehicle.

It's just like any other vehicle, unhook the battery and make sure you remove the carpet above the area you intend to weld, and keep a spray bottle handy for flareups.

sometimes if I can't find a good place to clamp the ground near where I'm welding , I'll weld a small tab to the frame very close to where I'm welding and ground it there , then you just knock the tab off when you're ready to move on .

By following all of the above suggestions I have welded a fair amount on both frame and body and have never had any complications.
