I'm about halfway through my drawer system build that will fold out to a sleeping platform as well. It's taking some time but going along well.
I've built a steel frame with wood drawers. The sides of the frame will be wrapped with aluminum sheet riveted or screwed into place.
I'm still undecided what to finish the top of the platform with. Home cheapo carpet? Just stain it and lots of poly urethane? Bed liner? Something else?
Staining would look awesome but prone to scratching and not very slide resistant.
Carpet would be nice and quiet and add a little squish to the sleeping surface. Not to mention hide any imperfections in my carpentry. It would trap dirt, dog hair, and whatever else is thrown on it.
Bed liner would be durable and slip resistant but very rough if having to kneel around on it.
Also the fact that I have a tan interior leads me towards either staining or carpet from a aesthetics standpoint
So what a you all using and why?
