i have drilled and tapped all my gear boxes and diff's, attached toilet floats to all with hoses running up to a 30 gallon drum i keep stashed in the corner of the pig. then as oil seeps out past all the leaky seals it automatically stays full and has a constant re supply of clean oil. no really i do.:sombrero:

I haven't used it on my Rubi but I used to use it on my old TJ alot and on my big rig. I took an old freon bottle had our welder weld a small 45 degree nipple on the side with a pipe angled inwards toward the bottom of the bottle. on the outside of the bottle I used a ball valve and a clear hose with metal pipe that is angled to keep it in the fill holes. the top of the bottle has a 2" coupler welded to it and I use a cap on that coupler that has been drilled for a valve stem to fit into. you out your oil in the coupler and tighten it up and then pressurize it via the valve stem. put hose in the diffs and open ball valve slowly. takes a few seconds to a minute or two depending on diff size and if you need to repressurize the bottle. when your done open up the original valve in top of the bottle to bleed off the pressure. tip bottle over and open up ball valve to drain the oil from the hose back into the bottle. close off all valves and put it away till next time. I wish I had pics of it as this contraption works really good for 90W gear oil all the way up to straight Lucas and holds somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 gallons of earl

I use a 3/8 hose and the pointed cap from a gear lube bottle. (I keep an extra one in the tool box). I simply hold the bottle as high as the undercarriage will let me and squeeze in the lube.

Generally you can put about 3/4 of the bottle in this way. I then set that extra lube aside and use a new bottle. As I collect multiple 1/4 full bottles I combine them to use the rest.

If I get to a point where I need to use the last 1/4 of a bottle, I simply poke a hole in the bottle and let gravity feed the rest as suggested earlier.

Cheap and easy.

It looks like an Oil Safe brand product. I have their catalouge at my office. I'll have to try to find one.

hi james!

One of the old aluminum work horse magazines I have suggests using an enema bag. You have plenty of time to do other things while filling the diffs.

Personally, I use a stainless steel fire extinguisher. I got one used from a place that fills them. It is the one that is usually charged with water and compressed air, so it has a schraeder valve on it. Fill with oil, charge with air and you have an oil cannon. I can fill a swivel ball in less than ten seconds. They are a little difficult to move around under the car. It would be great to have a longer hose, but so far its a million times better than the old hand pumps.
