That looks like a M-416 military trailer:

If it is a m416, they are 1/4 ton trailers made to be pulled by military jeeps, which were 4 cylinders and topped out at about 40-50 mph.

According to this site, m416s weigh 610 lbs. Depending on what you put into/onto it, it might top out at 1000-1500lbs total weight when towed

Here's a search of all the craigslist locations for m416 to give you an idea of pricing.

Can I mod it?

Anything can be modded ;)

How much $ do you want to put into it?
Can you do the fabrication work yourself?

They can be solid offroad trailers:

I'd seriously consider buying that one, but I'd try to haggle the seller down...

Looks like it's worth the 150.00 asking price. Definately is if it has a title as the title is worth that alone.

Do a search in this section for 416 or 101's and you will see that trailers potential. The floor is a easy fix. If nothing else get a floor out of a truck bed and weld it into the trailer.

mmm I'd have to say no,

if the frame is anything like the box bottom then its not saveable, most change their axles too for something more modern and the springs are probably rusted solid

I think you 150 bucks is better off spending on steel and make yourself something that will last

Look at the frame

If the frame is in good shap go for it. You can get the metal for the floor in 16 ga for about $60.

Most trailers are going for $600-1200.

I am finishing mine and working on them is most of the fun.

I would buy it.

Depends on where you are located too... in Colorado, those seem to be pretty difficult to find.

And anything can be modded!

A quote I once heard, "There's nothing that can be done grinding and welding that can't be fixed with more grinding and welding!"

Worth every penny jump on it before someone else does.

x2

If you are willing to restore it and do nothing else you can turn a very heft profit. Just the fact that it is the military trailer makes it worth a ton more. Now there was another trailer company that made them very much like the military ones, and they are not as valued, but dang close. So either way I would say get it. (Assuming the entire thing is not rusted through)

The reason I mention that there is another company is that I do not recall any of the military trailers having WOODEN floors in them, so that is why I question. STILL If you are willing to do the work it would be worth it even if you just resell it.

Bantam?

Edit: Probably not. All the bantam pictures that show up on the 'net have stake pockets on the inside walls....

How much money do you all think I would have to put in it to make it road worthy to haul stuff home across the country??? I will mod it when I get across the country..

Depends on the condition of the frame, axle and tires. The floor is an easy fix, nothing else put a sheet of 3/4" plywood over it for now. If the lights aren't working get a cheap trailer light kit from walmart. Going that far, if the tires are dry rotted you should get some new ones.

Trailer

I am going o bet that the frame is fine. Take the bed off and have a new 16 gauge floor put in. Steel will be about $60 plus labor.

The lights you can get at Walmart or anywhere for about $20 for the entire kit.

The tires could be the expensive part. I went away from Military tires to 33" tires and got four in great shape on Mickey Thompson classin two wheels to match my jeep for $300 used.

Be aware to really restore the trailer you will probably have a $1000 into it. But then you will have a nice trailer and can probably always get back most if not all your money.
