Hi all, Well I'm a noob here at expo and have been lurking for a few months now and finnally figued I should join. Reason for joining is the question above. What seats is everybody using? Right now I have the 60/40 bench seat in my 96 tacoma and I want something more comfy for the long road trips. I am a bigger guy as I have a 40 inch waist so I am trying to see and get everyones opinion.

Opinions are likely to be as varied as posteriors.
Regarding bucket seats, the seat side and seat bottom bolsters in both my current '05 Tacoma and previous Honda Civic I owned were both uncomfortable to me and uncomfortable in the same fashion. Whereas a BMW Z3 I owned which from all outwardly appearance was identical to the Civic was comfortable all day long.
I looked into having work done on the bucket seat in the Tacoma a couple years back in San Diego and was told most upholstery shops are loath to take on such jobs as they cannot guarantee the individual is going to like it.

If I had a bench and didn't have to concern myself with airbag connections, I'd mod in a NOS BMW seat.
But I may be talking out my...

BMW seats from a '05ish 3 series. Installation not for the faint of heart, and in the end I probably could have found something that fit better. I lost the ability to flip the passenger seat forward, although I'm working on that.

But, they are very comfortable even on long trips.

I put in some heated leather seats with full power and adjustable lumbar from a Pontiac G6. The install was tricky, but they are very comfy and I have a bad lower back from years of biking and running.

Why the G6? They are the same seats as in the GTP and in reviews on the GTP and seating, these seats were commonly swapped in to other GM projects. I would have went with Toyota seats, but I found these very cheap. I thought the heated part would just be fluff, but I use that more than any of the other features of the seats.

I'm taking the current buckets out of my 2003 tacoma and replacing them with 1990 4runner buckets. They have lumbar adjustment and the under thigh adjustment and are much more comfortable. None of that power stuff either. They are not that difficult to modify either.

My stock '86 4Runner buckets are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in, barring high-dollar race seats.

Acura, can't remember what model they were out of.

Damn near bolted right in. Only had to make a small spacer to get them to work.

Thank you for the input everyone. I have decided on 2 things. I am selling the 96 Tacoma and am going to use my 99 4runner to start preping for overland explore, and I will be using a pair of mk3 Toyota supra seats. 10 way adjustable power seats! Had a few supras (3) and the are very comfy! Only thing I am concerned about is wiring...
