What size nut-serts to use with extended roof rack?

I purchased some additional rack for my 4runner in an attempt to increase the length of the stock rail portion and add another set of cross bars. My question is what size and depth of nut-sert do I need? I'll likely order from McMaster out of Atlanta, GA.

This is the PlusNut that Yakima uses with their tracks

For a similar application Thule uses M5 'flare nuts' (and M5 25mm bolts).

Guess I could pull my a stock nut and get a size then purchase nut-certs from there. Racks direct is selling them for nearly $6 ea.

I'm looking to do this too. Are you just using extra factory rail or did you get longer rails from Yakima or Thule?

If you needed longer rack rails go to a junkyard and get some off of a late 80's Dodge caravan.

I sourced a set of factory 4Runner rails. I'm worried about the sunroof in the event it will interfere and might have to move the stock rack further out to match the front set. But alas I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
