Wheel Bearing Service, Gen 2.5

Just a quick survey......I'm wondering at what mileages people have done routine wheel bearing service, or if you haven't done it yet, what mileage do you have? Anyone ever experience a wheel bearing failure due to lack of maintenance? I've got 198,000 on my 98 and have never touched mine.
Thanks.

do the gen 2 have the same wheel hub as the 2.5? If so, Im at 148 also and never had an issue, although i did repack them with grease when i did my front rotors a lil bit back (i friggin hate captive rotors)

Same for me. I repacked the grease on the front hubs, but haven't done anything else. I'm at 198k miles. Replacing all the wheel bearings is on my list to do, but they seem okay, no burnt grease :)

I did mine on my sport at 130k. Probably could have just adjusted but I needed to do brakes anyways and for the cost of parts I just replaced everything.

Well my friend, my 2000 Dakar Edition has 269324 miles, and tomorrow Sunday is going to be the FIRST TIME I have to change those bearings. I think it depends the way the Montero have being driven, you know, craters on the road (like here in Puerto Rico!!), shock absorbers conditions (I'm running on Rancho's), etc. what you have to check from time to time is to have the bearings with the ideal grease and that particular movement the tire has when the bearings are not that good.
