Wheel Studs upgrade for bigger wheels and maxed payload?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2021, Ram 3500, diesel, single wheel, leaf springs, stock suspension, with a 3,000 wet weight truck camper.

When fully loaded I am maxed out on payload.

But I am also running 37's, so I am wondering if I should upgrade the Wheel Studs from factory to something stronger/recommendations?

If your wheels and tires are rated for the GVWR (really each axle weight would be better) or more and your total weight is below GVRW, there is no reason to change wheel studs. The factory ones are more than capable as long as they are not damaged by over tightening or other physical damage. They have a built in safety factor.

The studs do not support the load - they are simply there to provide a clamping force. It's the friction between the wheel and the hub that support the load. Most designs use a safety factor between 1.5 and 4.0 so I am sure you plenty safe.

If you are within the GVWR, if your tires, rims etc are rated likewise for the load you are carrying, yer good to go.
Bigger rubber might make regearing an issue but the studs won't be stressed.
