Wheels

I'm thinking about getting a new set of wheels. Although I like the ruggedness of a steelie, the reduced unsprung weight and of an alloy appeals to me. Plus, I need a max load rating of at least 3000 lbs.

I want something simple, tough, and non-blingy. Hopefully cheap as well. Just looking at 4wheelparts and Discount Tire, the selection was depressing.

The only thing I found that I liked was this Pro Comp. http://www.4wheelparts.com/prodDetail.aspx?partNo=PXA8069-7982

Any other options I should be looking at?

One o fmy co-workers just got those for his 4Runner. While I am not a fan of the glass black, I will say those are nice wheels. Mickey Thompson has som eas well very similar in black, or at least they used to.

Yeah, I agree. They are a little shiny. The same wheel comes in other finishes though. Something more matte would be preferable.

It's a good idea. However, I think GM makes some of the ugliest wheels in existence. I did like the stock wheels that were on my 2004 Tahoe. Too bad they're not 8 lug.

I've searched a little on craigslist for some and didn't come up with much. Ebay has a lot of options, but they want $100+ per wheel when you factor in shipping. For that much money, I'd just as soon buy aftermarket.

That being said, if I found a really good deal on some OEM wheels, I would probably jump on it.

I wish I could find a spec sheet for OEM wheels. I assume the max load rating for wheels that went on 1-ton trucks would far exceed my requirements. Still, I'd like to know what it is.

I dont know what size rim you are looking for....

BUT, I would keep an eye out for some of the Alcoa rims from a 90s F250/F350. As long as its not a Super Duty(different bolt pattern(8x180mm or some crap, only thing I hated about my S/D)

The Dodge rims on my truck are Alcoas as well.... light and strong.
