Where to mount a Spot Messenger??

Where is everyone mounting their Spot in their vehicles?
I'm using it for the tracking feature. I was thinking of getting the Ram Mount Cradle for it and a suction cup to mount it on the window of the rear seats door.

I think it's supposed to have as clear view of the sky as possible. I always just wedge mine between the dash and the front window.

I slip my SPOT into an sock and lay it on the dashboard .....

The sock keeps the direct sun off of it and I still see the lights flash
to remind me to turn it off at night .....

I keep mine in my ditch bag.

If I want to send a notification, I just send it from my daily destination.

On the gen 1 of the SPOT best reception is laying flat face up not sure if there is a difference on gen 2. I like the sock idea.

I have the SPOT cradle mount on the A piller on my FJ Cruiser. The SPOT snaps in to it and once I turn it on I don't need to mess with it. I turn it off at night while at camp.

an even on the second gen you are supposed to give it a clear view of the sky and have it laying as flat as possible since it uses a basic patch GPS antenna. the second gen is supposed to work much better in less than those ideal circumstances though (compared to gen 1)

Just wanted to follow up- I ended up with the Ram Mount Cradle and Suction Cup.
Stuck it on rear passenger door window and it worked flawlessly.

I too use the ram mount to dash. this is a bracket made for XM radio addons that attached behind dash trim using existing holes/screws so you dont have to @#$%^ up the dash with addtional holes. on the front is a ram ipod and back is a ball mount. my spot1 seemed to miss 25% of the time but the spot2 works ok with about 90% checkins based upon time. my last trip i used the ball mount for a vid camera so i used the suction cup and mounted to the inside of my glass sunroof. didnt miss a single checkin that i can tell.

Id like to learn how you mounted the Midland cb there. iirc it comes with a belt clip and it looks like you found a different clip for it which can just be seen in the lower left of the pic. below...

In my '06 Tacoma, I attached my SPOT to the passenger A-pillar hand grip using a RAM mount with bicycle handlebar attachment . Reception has never been a problem.
