Where to purchase the Scepter 3 handle Ploy 20L Jerry Cans

I don't have a problem finding the water containers, but I'm having a hard time finding a site that I can get around the military restrictions for the gas cans. If you're in the military can you order these cans or does it have to be for legitimate military purposes?

Does anyone know of a retailer not under these restrictions, or a good/high quality alternative? Thanks.

Ajik Overland has been selling used Scepters and repair parts for them. There were retailers offering new cans on eBay though the pricing was pretty wild.

I just purchased a new O.D. green scepter fuel can off of Ebay for $99.00 plus $16.00 shipping. Also got a good used one for $72.00 plus $14.00 shipped. They are out there if you look hard. Ron

I agree with Kurt - recommend calling Josh with AJIK Overland Exchange. He's had a few refurbished cans for sale lately and the ones that I've seen are fully mission capable at a reasonable price compared to those prices I've seen lately.

I purchased mine at Princess Auto in Windsor Ontario Canada. The price is $64.99 for the green 20L cans, $39.99 for the 10L cans and $39.99 for the pouring spout. They also have the blue 20L water cans for $39.99. There are no military restrictions.

EPA regs & safety mandates that regulate fuel cans to have child safety protection. This went down in 2008-2009? Still available for sale new in Canada, bootlegs show up once in a while. Used are 100% legal to own and use in the US (well in my neck of the woods).

Current US regulations

As of January 10, 2009 all portable fuel containers are required to conform to two new regulations:

They must meet new federal Mobile Source Air Toxic regulations, based on the California Air Resources Board's regulations.
They must meet the requirements of the Children's Gasoline Burn Prevention Act.

These new regulations do not apply to OSHA-approved metal safety containers, but rather to the common red plastic, portable gas cans. The regulations apply only to newly manufactured gasoline cans, and there is no requirement on the part of users to discard their existing cans or to upgrade, although the EPA provides informational resources for implementing community Gas Can Exchange Programs.

A quick check on eBay shows that there are still a number of Scepter gas cans available there.
