Where's the Dakota people on here?

Anyone have any Dakota trucks built up or exed ready?

Thanks. I have an '04 Dakota and apparently there's no such thing as a lift for them. I'm sure there's something out there, just curious if anyone can give me some insight.

So I'm assuming no one uses them?

I have seen one picture on the opening slide show but haven't seen any links to them in builds.

I'd love to have an 05-08 taco but they were way more then I paid for my truck so it was a no go at the time.

I bought a '98 in '99, drove the living heck out of it for 9 yrs, and loved it. It replaced my Tacoma, which was just too light duty for work and play. Had it set up pretty sweet (5spd stick) but didn't lift it. There must be lifts for them, there's about three around town that are lifted. I would search a Dakota forum.

Good luck.

There are lifts for certain model years, none that I have found for a 2004. Will keep searching, just never seen any pictures here where people wheeled them.

2000 Dakota, 4.7L, full time 4wd

Here's mine:

It's a 2000 Dakota Club Cab Sport with the 4.7 liter engine, automatic transmission, full-time 4WD, and a factory limited slip rearend.

I bought it new. It currently has about 180,000 miles on it and was my daily driver until May of 2008. About 20,000 of those miles were off-pavement.

Pros: comfortable, especially on the highway, easy to manage on the trails, great traction, especially on snow and ice, adequate power, acceptable gas mileage.

Cons: limited payload and towing capacity, virtually no aftermarket support, inadequate brakes, low running ground clearance, factory skid plates did not hold up.

It was a great truck for me. I've got the bed set up with a Bedrug and a Snugtop shell. I've slept back there dozens of nights. I added a simple on-board air system, a CB radio, and a fire extinguisher and hit the trails.

Look up "Dakota Mailing List", I'm a member on the list, don't post too much though.
If anyone can help you out, they can.

I used to have a 2000 Dak wit he 4.7, I beat the hell out of it for 3 years and finally killed it.
I just bought an '02 Durango with the same engine, obviously I liked the truck. :D
There is not very much aftermarket support for these trucks though, kind of a bummer. I was planning on turning the Durango into an ExPo type rig, but it seems it's just not the best platform for it. I'll likely go with a fullsize truck that is easier to get aux. gas tanks, winch bumpers etc. etc...

The Durango will provide daily driver duties for the next couple of years or so, with light camping trips on occasion.

Most of the dakotas I've seen lifted were done with a SAS

The lifts I have run into in the past are fairly small in height, and expensive.
It's been a while since I looked around, but I'm not too surprised the availability of the Dak. lifts are still pretty scarce.
I've got a friend that swapped axles and put 40's on his Dak. It looks pretty nice now, hard to see over the hood from the driver's seat, but it looks nice! :D
(Performs awesome offroad as well.)

I have a 2003 Dak Quad Cab. I found out that you can convert the front brakes to 2002 and then use the lift for 2002 with no problems. I plan on doing this soon if I don't sell the truck soon. I have the torsion lift an blocks in the rear, 33"s. I paintd wheels black and got black tail lights. check out this post about me and mine here

Sweet ride man! I love it. What do you put up in the roof top basket?

I would love to turn the torsion bars on my '04 but right now I don't have the time and def. not the knowledge to do it.

Just out of curiosity, ever have any ball joint problems with your truck?

I've had no problems at all... I've bben lifted for about a 1.5 years and take it out as much as I can. right now I take hand bikes and such in the roof basket. the torsion bar lift is about $170-$200 on ebay and took me about 30minutes with a two post car lift. the lift says 2-3 inches but it raised my truck about 4-5 and then I put 33" tires on for another inch or so. Next is a custom front bumper for better approach, and a rear one to lift up the tow hitch. will post pictures when done.

Nice.

Is it a V6 or V8?

I've been having some front end issues with mine. I have a pretty good wobble up there and I'm assuming it's the ball joints. Hoping it's not a major thing to do.
