Which hose for hot water system?

I have an on board shower system that has worked well, however, hose has been my weakest point.

The system was originally plumbed with PEX, but this did not survive bouncing around off-road near the exhaust. Not flexible enough when exposed to heat. Developed long cracks and served only to pump water to the ground.

I need a hose that can handle coolant temperatures (220°F ?) while holding 45psi.

I'm setup with barbed fittings for 1/2" ID. I'd like to stay under $2/ft as I need 50'

Any suggestions?

Maybe bulk heater hose.

Look into Parker Parflex Hytron hose. It comes in lots of various working pressures/temps, very flexible, can be used with push-in connectors, hose clamps, or for it's intended use with crimp on ends as hydraulic hose. I have several feet of 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4" that I use on damn near everything whether it be heater hose, power steering hose, trans cooler hose, etc. It's not "cheap", but you'll never have to replace it.

I split some lengthwise and used it as a sheath around a battery cable that was close to the headers on my old '64 Chevy. After some time I found that the Parker hose was actually resting on the header collector. When I decided to relocate the battery to the bed, I saw the the Parker hose had no wear or burns on it, even after resting on the hottest part of the header for who knows how long.


At my warehouse the 6 month old PEX on the hot water heater split length ways just like it did for you. I tossed the PEX on the hot side and used the Parker hose in it's place. That was 4 years ago.
