Need advice from 'experts'.
Vehicle 9.5T automated 12 speed manual expedition vehicle
Looking at retro fitting either an electric 25K lb winch, well known brand , electric. Approx $14k + fitting
Or approx 18K lb hydraulic with PTO off gearbox. Approx $15k fitted
Issues are space and have no idea which way to go.
Thanks!

Their are pros and cons to each. Hydraulic winches don't work if the motor isn't running. Electric winches may not have the duty rating of hydraulic (depends on the model). In my experience, the bigger you go, the better the argument gets for hydraulic. Big electric winches have big power demands and generate lots of heat. Last set I worked with were a pair of 20ton hydraulic winches on the back of a military low boy. They worked flawlessly, but damn is that some big cable to pull. Most of the US Military heavy truck winches are hydraulic.
