Why 3 vents on 03-04 D2 headlights?

Going through some photos from last year got me thinking about my headlights. I forded some pretty deep water last year, which ended up with dirty water inside the lights. I cleaned them out as best I could, but they're not perfect. While cleaning them, I noticed that each light has 3 vents, even though there is only 1 chamber. I also noticed that my OEM fog lights which are mounted even lower, never got any water in them at all! I'm sure the fogs are vented, I'm guessing they only have 1 vent, and that helped lock the water out.

Having 3 vents, at various heights, would allow a siphon effect to happen on the headlights. I had been planning on running vent tubes to my airbox, but now I'm thinking... maybe just plugging 2 of the vents on each light, leaving only 1, and running a single tube to the airbox would be enough?

Thoughts?
