Why is there water dripping from my headliner?

*sarcasm alert* :snorkel:

The irony is that I just spent a hundred bucks to have a new motor installed for the front sunroof in my Disco II as I was under the impression that my sunroof wasn't leaking. The sub zero temps apparently fooled me. Time to drop the liner and replace it anyway... my wife ain't gonna' be happy with the bill on this one...

Although, I could just silicone it shut and live with the droopy/disintegrated liner.

Thoughts?

So is your sunroof motor leaking for sure or could it be the drain hose cups? Have you taken off the headliner to see?

usually those are clogged drain holes from the sunroof forcing water inside. It happened quite often on my Disco 2s unttil the shop realized that it was part of the standard service.

I'll bet it's the drain tubes/cups. It's been neglected by all the previous owners so the front half of the liner is shot. If I drop it to check on the drains, it will be a mess. So, my two options as I see it are to have my custom auto upholsterer replace the whole liner and fix the drains, or just silicone the sunroof shut and live with the droopy liner.

Fix it, get new headliner and drain cleared, listen to wife fuss once at cost instead of every thine she gets in the vehicle. And the liner will eventually fall on her head, and that is never a good day.

Just move the decimal to the left by one. So, if the cost was $990, it was really $99. Something that cost $99 would really be $9.90. These are the figures you give your wife. :)

An excellent strategy, but she is smarter and more clever than I am, so I'll get busted...

The good news is that the upholsterer quoted me at $400, which seems very fair.
