wilderness systems tandem kayak

Ok guys I am starting a process of cleaning out my over abundance of paddling equipment. First up is a Wilderness Systems Northstar tandem kayak. This boat is 18' long and has 3 hatches with a rudder. These boats are over $2000 new.

Poly constrution it is a "sunrise" color which is an orange and yellow swirl. I can ship it but be seriou because shipping is probably in the $150 -200 range. I can ship via forward air for pick up at a terminal near you unles you live in timbuktu, USA LOL!

here is a link to see the stats and general pics I will get some pics added tonight or tomorrow of the actual kayak. http://wildernesssystems.com/northstar

This is one of many that spend to much time on the rack since I have 3 of these large doubles. This is an awesome boat that can go anywhere you have the skills to paddle it.

$900.00 firm

Man, that is a lot of rocker for a tandem!

A few questions:
1) 18'5" is longer than recreational and shorter than expedition, what is the cargo volume like?
2) Can pilot and stroker paddle unsynced?
3) Are there skirts available?
4) Are there thigh braces?

Thanks, Dave

1) 18'5" is longer than recreational and shorter than expedition, what is the cargo volume like? Well the volume is good. Bow and stern hatches are large enough to carry all you small items like food, first aid, etc. Center hatch is for the bulky things like tents sleeping bags clothes etc. Hoenstly most expedition tandems are in this size range. You should have little trouble doing extended trips in this one.

2) Can pilot and stroker paddle unsynced? Yes the cockpits are far apart because of the center hatch.

3) Are there skirts available? Yes seals skirts are my favorite and you can get any skirt they offer in the proper size for this boat If you need some I actually have some left over from my retail store that I am closing out.

4) Are there thigh braces? Yes the tigh braces are molded into the cockpit coming

Can this be paddled single, or do you really need both people? You wouldn't have any single yaks of similar style you want to get rid of would you?

I have a bunch of boats so let me know a few things.

How tall are you?
what is your build sm, med, lrg?
what features are you looking for and what kind of water will you be paddling?

The norstar is not a boat you want to solo. Sure it can be done in a pinch but tandem sea kayaks are to big and heavy to handle by yourself on a regular basis

Ahhh! I totally forgot about this thread. Sorry! I'm 6', 180lbs, medium build. I'm looking for something maby in the 18'ish range? I already have a whitewater kayak, so I want something I can tour larger lakes, black water rivers, calm seas, etc. Something similar to this, though I kinda want a rudder, which is not mandatory: http://wildernesssystems.com/tempest-170-pro I think that color scheme is awesome BTW!

This would probably be exactly what I'm looking for, though I don't need exactly that: http://wildernesssystems.com/tsunami-175-pro

Nothing that long but I do have a cape horn 15. The boat does not have a ruuder but one can be added easily. Wilderness systems does not make the boat anymore it was sidcontinued last year. It is similar to the tsunami but has a little higher level of performance reguarding design. It features a phase 3 seat 2 hatches and a da hatch. here are 2 links to the boat one reviews one picks.
