Will Gen 2/2.5 alternator fit on Gen 1?

I have a 1990 that I am adding more power requirements to and I would like to use the higher out put alternator from the newer model (100amp vs 75amp).
Anyone know about the fit up?

It's been quite some time since I looked into a bigger alternator for a gen I since I've stopped upgrading mine many years ago and am now focussd on my gen II.

That said, if you don't get a good answer here, I recall there was quite a bit of discussion about increasing the gen I alternator output on 4x4wire's mitsu tech forum. IIRC, an easy way was to use one from one of the cars (GT3000, Starion, etc.) but I can't recall which vehicle for which engine's alternator.
