Winch recovery footage

I thought it might be cool to have a thread with some different types of recovery footage in one place. Perhaps give some details as to what type of winch you are running/vehicle etc. I'm hoping some of the more experienced members will be able to provide some expertise as to different types of situations and pulling techniques to get out of trouble as well as displaying some safety precautions as well.

Post 'em up!

The only winching footage I have is pretty mild. A simple straightline pull after running out of traction on a short/steep climb with wet rocks and groundcover. I'm running a Warn 8,000 on my '92 FJ80. It only required a short pull to get over the last bit of terrain. What you can't see is the steep drop right behind the truck that combined with a couple small ledges and greasy surface convinced me not to try and back down and try again.

Nicely done

I would like to add that all rigging to trees was done with nylon "tree savers."

Very nicely done! Great to see that you have line dampers on every line and that you used tree protector straps!

Cool idea. I have one recovery video I could add. Not expedition travel, just trail riding in Colorado when a Toyota in the group got dumped on its lid and settled back on its side.

Details:
The Toyota flopped onto its side while attempting to climb an obstacle on the Spring Creek trail. The trail was steep enough that I had to secure my truck to a tree with the front winch (XD9000i) and recover the toyota with the rear winch. (M6000sdp) To upright the Toy, I used a pulley block anchored to a nearby tree to redirect the cable because I could not position my truck for a direct pull. We also had to use my winch line extension and one of my tow straps to secure the front of the truck so it would not slide back down the hill once it was upright. I would like to add that all rigging to trees was done with nylon "tree savers."

Wow, that was interesting to watch for sure. Thanks for all the info along with that too. That's the kind of stuff I was hoping to see and learn a bit from. thanks!

Great idea but...
I really love your other video, the creek crossing where your wife/GF/SO/copilot/friend is mocking you....

classic ;)

Seriously though, the winch vids are extremely helpful. Keep em coming!

Yeah, takes alot to impress her... sheesh! I was thinking that the center of the creek would be a bit deeper and thus more impressive (like on previous attempts in the spring time) since it looked to be flowing decently. She loves to burst the 'ol bubble. haha
