Wiring a winch to a switch relay

Does anyone out there have any tips on wiring a winch to an internal console switch for a TJ? I've got an sPOD 6 Bay switch to install in my 05 Rubi and would like to wire my Warn XD9000i winch via the sPOD. If you have any tips/suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Do you plan to have a 2 switch system? On-Off and then a In-Out momentary switch?

Wiring shouldn't be an issue at all, the XD9000i is a 4 wire system, but you can get away with only running 3 (I prefer it that way actually).

Actually, I have a 6-bay switch system from sPOD that I plan to do a review on. The thing is, I think I may need to have two remotes for the winch unless I don't plan on using a remote externally after the wiring is completed. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yes, I am very familar with the sPOD system, but the dual or single switch option is up to you. You will need to modify the sPOD system a bit, all of their switches are relayed and on-off, the switch is an easy fix, but additional wiring and deleting the relay will be necissary for the in-out winch control.

All of the setups I have done can still use the external remote, no reason not too really. You have a couple options there.

1. Hardwire the internal controls. This leaves the external plug open for use, just plug it in and your golden.

2. Canibalize a winch controller, and just use the plug on the end and the wiring into your cab, then have it wired into your sPOD system. This requires you to unplug one controller or the other, though leaving the internal controller plugged in is easy enough.

Kurt, Are those Carling Switches they've used in the panel? I went thru this with the YJ from Hell. I don't recall the details of why, but to get momentary reversing I ended up buying several switches & b/c they're so modular I was able to "Frankenstein" the switch we needed.
Since this is the first of this system that I've seen I'm curious about them.

Yup, they use Carling, so coming up with a mom-off-mom shouldn't be difficult to source and install. They really are a neat system... I met the guy in Moab earlier this year, we were talking about working on some projects together and I was going to draw up a bracket for Tacomas for him, we emailed a couple times and I never hear back. Seeing as that one fell through I will likely build a similar system on my own when I do my Tacoma electrical system build.

I seem to recall that the YJ's owner wanted a lit switch, which I could not find in any sort of momentary Carling. Not lit on operation, lit with the dash lights like his ARB Carlings. Whatever it was, I made it happen for him and he didn't care about the bill.

Anyway, the jist of the product is a pre-packaged bundle of relays with a slick control panel. Wonder if they intend to make similar systems specifically for other vehicles.
