Would you....

... pay more in fuel for a "starter" trailer than the cost of the actual trailer?

Ive got a lead on a $50 5x8 flatbed trailer with what looks to be a 2k lb axle under it, 15" wheels, good tires, HD frame, etc. Decking is shot, and the thing doesnt have lights. But hey, $50! :coffeedrink:

But it would cost me $60 in fuel , and 3 hours just to go get it :coffee:

So... would you?

Could you buy an equivalent trailer locally for $110? That would be my take. 3 hours one way or 6 hours round trip, plus an hour there hooking up, paying the guy, talking, etc.?

My Saturdays are worth a lot to me these days...

Hmmmmm. I think I'd be grabbing a tub of wheel bearing grease, tool bag, and a set of magnetic lights and filling the tank!:ylsmoke:

You kiddin, Ive got a flatbed pickup that we could easily roll the trailer onto. Block the wheels, strap it down and go :ylsmoke:

I see my weekends as very valuable too. Thats why this is a tough call. Especially for a trailer that would (obviously) need some work.

3 hours round trip.

And no, nothing available local, and I mean NOTHING as far as trailers go. Very rural area, so anything you find in the local adds means a a couple hours worth of driving.
