That Japanese Pajero is gorgeous! I too have been looking for a 1st- or 2nd-gen Montero (if only I could find another one out there like this: 1990 Montero LS!), and would be very interested in that if I wasn't in California. ?

This '92 went up on Sacramento Craigslist today: Mitsubishi Montero SR 4x4 1992 pajero - $2000. Said to be "literally in collectible car condition. EXCEPT the ENGINE which needs repair or replacement." Can you still a buy a new version of this engine for a complete replacement? Or would it have to be a rebuild? (Forgive me, I know this info can be found online -- and I have searched it out -- but I am not at all mechanically savvy, so thought I would ask the community here for help/clarification.)

I have a 2 door 1st gen that is in amazing condition. Red in color and about 88k or so on the dash. Interior Perfect. Exterior Perfect. Maybe a scratch or two from being in the garage with the rest of my stuff the past two years. The car was in the garage of the house I purchased two years ago and has been there since 2004 which is the last time the car was driven. This is a true barn find. The montero was running last time it was garaged according to the neighbors. Since then I have pulled the fuel tank to remove the rust, and started to clean the carb. I had big hopes for this but would rather see it go to someone who has a greater appreciation than I do. I am a huge car guy, but this is not the car for me. Hit me up for pictures or for more details.

Thanks!
