Hopefully this isn't frowned on here, if so my apologies. I posted a WTB ad, just wanted to bring it to the attention of the correct people! I can't post a link but it's in the parts section of the classifieds.

Thanks, if this isn't cool please let me know and I'll edit this.

Ok thanks. Actually I just discovered I need both manifolds, and yes for a 93 (2nd gen I believe) 3.0 12v Montero SR.

How soon do you need them? They are hard to find used without cracks and the ebay replacements are junk, been going through this myself but eventually found a set.

I'd like to have the truck running by late December, the engine will be rebuilt in the next few weeks. I understand about the cracks, that is the problem with the ones I have, both are cracked. Good to know that it's common, I'll be sure to try and verify before buying. How did you finally find a set?

I found a good used pair off a 98 at the salvage yard. As far as the interchange goes, 95-00 are the same manifolds, so your odds just went down a little of finding them. I will see what I can do to help out, but they will not be cheap or easy to find.

I wonder if the heat shields contribute to the problem, it seems very common. I think the Gen 1 manifolds may work, looking at the junkyard interchange site it looks possible. I may end up having to get them from a yard, but I'm worried that they will ship me cracked pieces, there's not too much local at this time.

This is the left one (drivers side)

If it helps, the part number for those cross-references to the 1st gen Montero, V6 Raider, and the V6 Mighty Max / Ram 50. None of which are exactly common, but maybe it'll broaden your pool of parts a bit.

Jeff, that does help, thanks for that! Coffeegoat, that is an option, although I took one to a local guy who has helped me out a bunch before and he recommended not to do it. As mentioned in that other thread, all sorts of opinions on the subject. I'll probably take them along when I go to the machine shop and see if they have any thoughts.

if you get a competent welder with good knowledge and he can reach the whole crack to properly prep it then u have a good chance. my experience with opinions of the sort u are talking about, depend heavily on the opinionators experience and skill with cast iron

for sure get them ceramic coated at least inside for the future.
