Hey guys,

My buddy has a newest body style 4-door Tacoma. His birthday and xmas is coming up and I wanted to get him something cool.

I was thinking of a full cb radio setup with mag mount antenna since I just received one from my gf for my bday and we like to go places together...BUT I just wanted to hear from you peeps about what you wish you had in your Tacomas.

a simple GPS?...let's try not to go over $100

There's another thread in the Toyota forum (here) about a Bushnell Onix GPS that's on sale for $99. I don't know if they're any good or not, but that might be an option for a topo-type GPS unit. For an on-road GPS, I'm sure you can find some of the cheaper Garmin or Tom-Tom models for around $100.

Walcott CB sells the Midland 75-822 Handheld CB for $100. I've had good results with mine using it occasionally.

Yea, rightchannelradios.com has a full setup with radio, antenna and such for about $100 to get him started. The Bushnell gps isn't on the site anymore :(

yeah, I posted the GPS deal. It was one day only. Anyways, the CB radio is a great idea. It's one of those things that I hated to buy myself but it is really awesome to have when four-wheelin with your buddies. Once I had one, I almost bought one for my friend that I wheel with because he refused for so long.

I'm confused though, you have to pay for the unit and then you need to pay for service? Can you pay for only the trip you're going to take or does it have to be a yearlong subscription? I personally wanted one, but I can't justify the expense since I only take a trip (mostly weekend) about once a month.

Nope, the subscription is where they get ya ;).

Bummer, I didn't catch that.
Well, you could get him a good knife (Benchmade griptilian) or a decent firstaid kit (adventure medical kits are pretty awesome) for around/less than $100.
If all else fails, a few brewskies in a cooler and some gas for a trip to the woods is always a good idea.
