Xterra, jammed rear hatch

My kiddo shut the hatch this morning on a bunjee cord....and it is jammed solid....tried pulling the cord, pushing the hatch....etc. any bright ideas?

:sombrero: I'd try cycling the e-lock several times, then puting your foot on the bottom part of the hatch release-edge

lean against your knee and try the hatch-lean hard thrusts

That worked one time on my Xterra--if that doesn't work, you'll probably have to pull the inside cover off and loosen the latch mounts from the inside--

....ok....tried it....not budging at all. I noticed the door ajar light is not on so its pretty tight....

Assuming that the bungee isn't trapped in the latch, it's a wedge issue. What you might be able to do is hold the handle up, push down (like you're trying to close it) hard enough to get the latch to unhook from the clip portion.

It would hurt, but cut close to the body and yank it from the other end.. it should stretch it thin and pull out.

Have you tried turning the key in the rear hatch? The electric motor is kinda weak. Otherwise, if it is a strong pull on the handle meaning latch is moving. Have a helper climb in back and put pressure on the door from the inside pressing it open.

Still battling after several days.....stumped..... I think it is wrapped up in the latch itself

Thats if you were able to remove the inside cover, I don't know how yours attaches, mine was an '06 OR-

At the worst--you'll have to cut out the cover section around the lever to get to the mounting bolts and then replace the cover, entire or partial !

Fixed! Removed rear cover and as wife pulled from outside, I worked the latch from the inside. Had to push on it pretty hard. Thanks all for the help.
