I was curious too. I know you had some major troubles when you shipped it over to Australia. Were you just ready to move on to something else or did the decision have anything to do with shipping headaches?

they salvaged the rear part for the trailer and gave the front half and whatever else wasn't used to a metal recycler

If I recall reading correctly (will have to search) his XJ suffered some serious structural damage and was no longer streetable. So the fact that it ended up finding use again vs. the whole thing being sent to the crusher is actually a good thing.

well, the response is a bit late - sorry, but only saw it today...
yes i did see that trailer. we are still in contact with the owner.
when they worked on the trailer they removed the ceiling lining and noticed that the roof was almost completely seperated from the rest. all pillars had zero connection with the roof and the rest was badly cracked...
so i guess it was a good decision to sell it. the shipping would have cost about $6000 so it was not worth it.
i sold it to a friend i made and he took all the aftermarket for his xj.
the rest he gave to his friend for the trailer.
they were still able to sell the:
engine, tranny, t-case and other components.
the way i see it:
now it's got a new life instead of the scrapp yard...

I think you did the right thing by leaving it behind, but i'm sure it was a very tough decision.

i don't think we have, but we met a lot of people and when we met groups i can't recall names very well... :-(. but if i met him, i'd recognize him...
well, i like them but think they're too expensive. i was quite shocked about the car prices here in europe... i forgot about that
i just recently went to some dealers...
the list is with rough currency conversion:
land rover defender 110 - $56k
jeep unlimited (4-dr) - $52k (base price for the sport but with ac)
toyota hilux (tacoma) - $39k and it has ifs and the bed of the 4-dr is too short to sleep in.
the used grand cherokees are too expensive, i think, and most of the xjs too: 8-10k euros ($12-15k) for a 2000.... my friend just bought one for $4k in los angeles!
and i'd like a truck a bit bigger for more int. space.

Well its sure been a pleasure keeping track of ya during all your travels. I used to live in Anchorage and run with Curtis when it was just him and myself with XJ's. He had just put on his custom square tube long-arm kit shortly after the RE longarm looked as if it could work as well. And I definately remember how much fun Purches Creek trail can be! I was sorry to here of the XJ's frame probs...
