Yakima BasketCase on 4th gen 4runner?

Looking to do a very cheap, very low profile roof rack for my 2006 4runner with stock roof rails. I've searched a bunch and found mentions of people fabbing their own mounts for the Yakima BasketCase, setting it flush with the rails. Has anyone here done that? Can you provide pictures and commentary?

Use case is the occasional load of firewood or trash, maybe a rotopax. We're definitely not in Gobi territory here. Here's the rack in question:

Not a Yakima, but if you want to put a Rola rack on, there is a "low mount" kit available that will work. I had one on mine and it worked great - loved the low mount which put the "deck" of the rack no more than 1/4" above the roof and considerably lower than the side rails.

You can get the low mount kit here:

Note: Parts are unfinished and will rust if not treated or painted, so I'd recommend at least shooting them with a coat of Rustoleum.

Thanks; that's plan B. It's certainly the better looking option and would be better for roof mounted lights, but I'm hoping to go even more low-profile/low-price.
