:edit: I have to say that I wasn't going to post this here. I love photography and every time I get on here I am reminded of how far I have to go. Pat urged me to do it though so if you have anything bad to say...it was all his fault. :D :D :edit:
For our 10th anniversary we decided to make a trip to Yellowstone and then road trip around parts of Montana. All in all it was a great trip.

Pat (Every Miles a Memory) sent me a PM and invited us to camp with them at their employee campground. They have been working at the book store there through out the summer while spending their off time photographing the park and surrounding areas.

Packing for the trip. I am the worlds worst packer.

This was our camp for two nights. It's amazing that in our cruel world there are still people as nice as Pat and his wife Cindy. We didn't even get set up in camp and they were cooking for us and making sure we were well cared for.

After they fed us we headed for Hayden Valley. They had heard that a pack of wolves and bears were frequenting the area. We didn't see any but we did get in a Bison blockade.

This lady made the huge mistake of going around her car. You never ever put yourself between a Bison and a car. You want a place to run if you have to.

The look on her face says it all.

Even into the dark they were still holding up traffic.

Being photographers they wanted to be up before sunlight again to head to Hayden Valley. I was all for it but Nanette wasn't. Anyway we left at sun up and headed back. We were skunked again with animals but the steam rising off the rivers was a great sight.

After that we had breakfast at Rosevelt's lodge and then split up with the Bonish's and headed to old faithful to play tourist stopping along the way to take in the lower falls.

Inspiration point.

I won't bore you with the typical tourist shots of Old Faithful. Once you have seen it, you don't really need to see it again.

We decided after leaving old faithful to head into West Yellowstone to grab some grub. I'm glad we did. On our way back we found this guy sniffing around the girls in the Madison River.

We headed for fountian gyser and got there right at sunset. It was pretty cool to watch the sun coming through the steam.

Friday was our anniversery and we had a date with Chico Hot springs north of the park. We played around getting out stopping at Mammoth hot springs on our way.

Bison Jam in Hayden valley.

I had a near heart attack when I realized that all the shots I got that morning were at 3200 ISO :shiver: Seems I was taking some night shots...just messing around and forgot to set it back to normal. I would have loved to cropped these coyotes down a little but the noise is so bad I can't

Finally got to Mammoth hot springs. Being our last stop in the park we wanted to spend a little time here. It's a pretty cool spot.

Day Four.
After Chico we headed over to Virgina City and Nevada City. If you have never been to these two towns...you should one day. Both are late 1800's towns that have been fully restored and have people living in them that are always in period dress. It's a really great place to spend the day.

On our way I ran into this. I couldn't resist getting a shot.

What I didn't know is they had an old narrow guage steam train that would take you on a 30 min ride to Nevada city
Once there you could hang out for a few hours and then hop the train back to Virgina City.

After we left we decided to head over to the Quake Lake area. This is one of the more amazing things I have seen in my life. You can read more about it Here.

Looking east toward the lake that the land slide caused.

Looking west and up the hill where the slide came from

That night we stayed in a FS campground close to West yellowstone. Our camp for the night

Next and last day of the trip. We heard Pat and Cindy Bonish talk about the Grizzly and wolf discovery center in W. Yellowstone and what a great place it was. So we had to go back and check it out before we headed home. I am so glad we did.

Some shots from there.

Thanks for sharing!!!

You and Pat & Cindy are killing me!! Love your photos of the Discovery Center (Grizzlies are my Favorite's!!). I think I have finally gotten settled into our new place and I am just itching to do some artwork. Your images are AWESOME!! as are Pat's. Thanks so much for sharing, it really makes me want to get some photography equipment and travel a bit. Hopefully after my wife is done with Grad School...

Why must you all torture me. Great photo's . I love that area, at least until it goes boom :Wow1:.

Funny you should mention that. The last day we were there they had two quakes.

We didn't feel them but it sure reminds you of why that place is what it is.

Glad to see you finally put them up Ryan, I was waiting for your lead before I posted a bunch of shots of your Jeep with that sweet RTT set up!

Love the shot of the Elk, the one of the bear sniffing or looking like he just loves the rock and all of your Virginia/Nevada City shots. Cindy and I have agreed that we're headed that way on Thursday on our day off.:wings:

Also, on Sunday morning, both earthquakes originated from the Grant Village/West Thumb area, and the sizemic (SP?) center kept calling the book store to ask me questions about how much I felt of it and about how long it lasted.

Great write up and dont kid yourself, your pictures are top notch!
