Just picked up a M101A1 from GL last week. Thanks to EP member brussum for loaning me his pintle to use to pick up the trailer and for his trailer build ideas from his thread.

Near Term:
- remove fixed leg and replace with swivel tongue jack
- remove lunette and add 2 in receiver for max coupler
- paint
- rewire and add LEDs
- replace axle with 3200#
- match wheels/tires to Jeep to make the trailer level with Jeep
- cover

Future plans:
- water tank
- tongue box
- batteries
- propane tanks
- water heater

Thanks for the help and thanks for all the great ideas. This forum has and continues to be a great place for information.

I will post pics to show my progress, I expect my progress to be slow with the holidays coming up.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Definitely subscribed to the thread. Let me know if you need any help with transforming your trailer (I'm fully qualified to operate a can of spray paint).

Nice!

Black with matching wheels and tires?
Black cover too?
keeping a tall cover or will you go lower?
Post as you go.

Mark, I am planning on a black cover like your's from mytarp. What are the dimensions of the tarp that you ordered from them? and what vinyl tarp did you order 22 or 18 oz?

I went with the Machine cover in the heaver black vinyl.
I measured edge to edge on the tub and added 1" "I would go 1/2" or 3/4" to fit better.
and I believe 5" deep.

It has worked well so far.
The only water that gets in is from the drain holes in the stake pockets.

Thanks, I plan on putting the lunette, mil lights, axles and wheels/tires for sale on SS. I am planning on matching the wheels and tires to the Jeep and getting a black low cover for the tub, and maybe a mid height cover to go over the bows without the side rails.

Like this one that uses the bow corners without risers.
Looks good! This is the one that got me looking for a 101A2.

Yes, just like that one. I had the idea in my head, but didn't know how it would actually look. Thanks for the pic, as always you have great ideas. Where did you get the pic, is there a build thread for this trailer?

Congrats on the trailer. I love my M101! Nice 2013 Rubi as well. Forget about lowering the trailer, raise that JK! I have 35's and 2.5" of lift and it almost sits level.

Have fun with the build!

Thanks, I would raise the JK but funds won't allow right now. I plan on going to 35s after I get the use out of the stock tires. Right now I want to get the trailer and JK level so when I move to larger tires all around everything stays level.

Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement tongue jack, ie brand, top wind/side wind, weight limit, etc?
