Yosemite National Park
In June, we visited Yosemite with our three little ones. Taking a family of three children ages 3 months to 3 years can be challenging. I was hoping that the flows would still be high giving good run-off for the waterfalls. If you get the chance, I would recommend a mid-week visit as traffic is more manageable. The traffic was pretty bad, but we were not in any hurry or on a strict agenda. We enjoyed the day out and the weather was perfect. Sunny and mid-70s. Here are a few pics of our adventure...
We stopped for lunch as we hit the valley floor at Cathedral Beach. We cooked up some food and the kids played on the shore by the river. The picnic area has an incredible view of El Capitan. Once again, I love having the ARB freezer/fridge to keep food cold without being soggy. No more ice!
El Capitan, a mecca for climbers.
After lunch, we headed to Yosemite Village and a hike to the Lower Yosemite Falls.
Here is a pic near the parking lot looking across a meadow. The falls were running at high flow and the weather was amazing. Below are Cara and Ella.
Next, it was my turn with the kids. Liam is in a stroller outside the picture.
A pic of Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls through the trees.
We arrived at the base of Lower Yosemite Falls. There is a great deal of spray from the falls and some that hiked closer on the rocks were soaked through.
Some pics as we hiked out.
A view of Halfdome across the valley. Again, the weather was spectacular.
Overall, it was a wonderful day. The kids behaved great and travelled well. I love California....
