Zarges Cases Mounting

I have a few Zarges K470 cases and would like to find a solution to securely, yet temporarily, mount them to a roof rack. Equipt does offer mounts for Alu Boxes but unfortunately they are not compatible with the Zarges footprint.

Any product recommendations or DIY solutions out there?

Thanks!

Thanks, they’re close but not lockable. I have some steelcore cables I use to secure the oztent when needed, but I want it to be easy to remove the hard cases.

Do you know why the Eezi-Awn K9 Alu-Box mount won’t fit a Zarges box? It looks like it grips the base frame extrusion. Although the Zarges box is pretty familiar (I have four of five of them) I don’t know Alu-Box well enough to know any differences in this part of their construction.

If there is a difference, perhaps a simple mod could address the incompatibility.

Yes. Emailed with their people yesterday. The sizes of the base of the case isn’t the same. Theirs requires a 23” dimension, not compatible with the Zarges footprint.

How about simple aluminum angle from Home Depot? Just to keep it in place, right? Straps/ locking cables through handles will Jeep them from “walking” away.

Yeah, something like that, but I want to secure it without dealing with straps/etc. Moving in the next month, so won't be able to try and fab anything up for a while. If I decide to go DIY I'll be sure to post up a thread on it.

I didn’t understand that constraint.

I tend to strap everything down, just because. “Belt and suspenders.” No matter what, the pants stay up. Which was a new one on our maintenance guy... but he took it to heart. “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” (H. S. Thompson)

I don’t like, or rather, despise, stuff rattling. And metal boxes on a metal rack would drive me to homicide. I’d strap it down regardless. Plus, if the slick system fails, you’ll end up with straps anyway. Get some cheaper (not cheapEST) ones and cut to length. That’s what I do. The tails flapping in the wind also annoy me. Neat, tidy and secure.
