ZJ Expedition build Suspension Question

Hello all, I'm new to this forum (ExPo) and recently picked up a ZJ (3rd Jeep, first ZJ) to replace my 99 Tahoe. My lady and I go on all kinds of trips exploring wherever we go and we are looking to build it up for trips that take us further than the average vehicle can. The goal is to keep it daily driveable, but when we need to get away just hook up the trailer (future purchase) and go. I had thought about buying a vehicle that was already built, but most of them are just done up for looks or crawling, not long distance comfort on rough roads.

Anyhow, my question is relating the suspension. I did a search and couldn't find anything really solid that ties back to what I'm doing. My understanding after talking to the guys at IRO (They are local to me and have had good luck with their gear in the past) is that to run a long arm suspension, one needs to have at least 4" of lift. My question though is if long arms are needed, or recomended for that matter, on an ExPo vehicle? The goal is to keep the tires in the 31-33" range because it will be "daily driven" and a tire larger than that isn't really needed from what I've read. What are others doing that works?

IRO is a great group of guys. Why do you think you need long arms? If you just want to run 31's then buy their front to rear swap kit http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merc...=IROR&Product_Code=IR-Z_3LK&Category_Code=PFZ and profit. If you feel the need to upgrade down the road then do so.
I'm not stuck on tire size yet, but I was just stating I don't see myself going over 33" (Probably run an Tread Wright 265/75 16)

I guess I have concerns about loosing traction in certain articulated situations that we will encounter. I've tinkered with enough vehicles that I like to be able to do it once and do it right. The guys at IRO (Luke specificly) actually turned me towards their 3.5" kit you linked. Maybe I should have more properly asked, what works and what doesn't for this type of vehicle? I can make a vehicle stick to pavement in straight lines or around corners, but this low speed stuff is still pretty new to me. I find it more enjoyable to get out away from everything though and explore the back country. I just don't see myself stuffing a 6" lift in a vehicle like this anytime soon like they did on the XTreme 4x4 build.

I'm running my ZJ on a F>R lift with 265/75r16 Treadwrights. I used 4" rough country springs in front and stock V8 upcountry springs out back. Rounded it out with a JKS track bar and Rancho RS5000's.

It works well enough, especially for the price. I drove this truck on a cross country adventure on road and off without a problem. The ride isn't great unloaded, the rear springs are a bit stiff, but it carries weight without squatting. Flex is good with the front sway bar disconnected. (excuse the poser shots)

Thanks, that is exactly the info I was looking for that I couldn't find much on before. Reading that it worked well for you loaded is promising, mostly because any driving I do over an hour will be slightly loaded with a full rack of mountian biking gear, or camping gear, or any range of stuff in between.
