water storage on a jeep wrangler

Hi I was wondering if any of you have water tanks on a wrangler. How do you mount them what is the capacity and can you post some pictures? I would love to get the aev bumper but it is too pricey right now for my budget.

I have a Front runner tank that is 13 gallons and fits behind the rear seat. I really like it!
Still working out how I want to do the final install right now.

We do something similar, load up all the hydro packs for personal use, and I have a couple of MSR bladders we fill for backup. Then if for some reason we are camping with absolutely no water available, one or two of those collapsable jugs. I would like to upgrade to the AEV bumper, rotopax, or frontrunner. But more pressing needs on my jeep at the moment.

I just got the Front Runner 10gal tank that fit in their two jerry can holder. Nice, but big. I'll set it up for three mounting positions, which will vary dependng on the load out, but in all cases include the jerry can holder for secure mounting. For just me and the dogs for a weekend of fishing it'll go in the rear cargo area, mounted to a plywood floor, which will mount to the tie down points. For a bit heavier load out, on a rack that mounts through the spare tire, supported by a ratchet strap to the AEV tire carrier post. For heavy load outs, on the roof rack.

There is fourth option I'm looking at and that is on a Synergy cargo area rack, which is rated for 500lbs and mounts high, to clear a fridge, etc. But I'm awaiting the rack and won't know how it will work until I get it. The Synergy rack is frightfully expensive, but the only option I could find that mounted high enough to clear a fridge and stove and still allow use of a soft top. You can purchase just the brackets and fab a basket to save some $'s

I have the AEV bumper and that water will be clean up/dogs, etc. Non-potable, since there is no easy way to clean the tanks.

Link to Front Runner tank - TexasTJ has one of the two ~13gal tanks on the page I linked, don't know which one: http://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/Water-Solutions-c47/

I have the flat upright tank frontrunner tank and mount it between the back of my ARB Fridge and the rear seats.

As others have mentioned, the Front Runner 13.2 upright tank seems to be a popular choice for behind the rear seat on the Wrangler. I'm hoping to pick one up at some point, seems like a perfect fit for space conservation and capacity for use in the JK Unlimited.

I bought three Rotopax 2 gallon water containers. They are machined, or cast I suppose, on the bottom so that two of them can lock together. After one use, one of them started to leak at the 'machined' area (unfortunately, on the bottom). For the $50+ each that I paid for them, I'm not impressed. It's a shame because otherwise they work well. The 2 gallon size and multiple handles make them easier to use than the 5 gallon jerry can. I may continue to use the other two but if resupply is uncertain, I can't trust them.

My wife and I fill our 70oz Camlelbacks up and keep them inside the Jeep. we also take along four 2 gallon Rotopax for the dog's drinking water. We keep them inside so they stay cooler and out of the dirt/ mud. I used to mount them up on the roof rack, but they just heat up in the Sun all day/ same with the rear tire mount. kind of a pain when you know you'll need them durring the day and your hands get full of mud, salt, etc. they fit nicely behind the rear seats locked end to end.

I have not had any issues with mine. I personally own eight 2 gallon water and six 2 gallon gas.

cast/ machined is for metal. the containers are Roto molded. contact rotopax and they will swap them out. they should not be leaking at all. I even parked on top of one of the water 2 gallon for a phot opp. and it did not leak.

A different option for the Rotopax... Not an ideal spot for fuel like the one pictured but a decent use of otherwise unused space on a TJ for water or the storage Rotopax.

I can't see that being a very good idea. First time you drop that side into a rock/log/tree/the ground, your going to rip that clean off and perhaps do a ton of dammage to the tub in the process.
