Bottle openers (and a bonus video)

I have to admit, I'm a bottle opener geek. I've got one on every keyring: One from WARN, one from a parts company, and even one from Tiffany, which was a gift. I've got a bunch at home; I collect 'em. One of my favs (which is not on the key ring) is the Klein Tools 98002, or I like to call it the "Model 5:30."

Do you have an opener that travels with you? I use the one on my keyring for beer when I'm traveling. When we're traveling and need to open a bottle of vino, we've got a mini corkscrew. It was cheap, but it folds into one, compact unit.

And I just saw this, and thought—everyone's had to do this at some point.

I've travelled with a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife with corkscrew since I was given my first one as a little kid (long before I'd tasted wine!) almost fifty years ago. Still my go-to tool. I use a Climber or a Compact.

When I'm home, I have a little more choice. As a vintage bike guy this is one of my favorites:

The little plastic corkscrew travels in my toiletries bag. One night trying to dig a cork out with keys and a nail file did it for me!

Used to be Molars number 14, 15, 18 & 19.
But I chipped number 18, broke a bottle in my mouth and grew up some.

Now it's some quality W. German pot metal.

My buddy works for Mercedes corporate and we have a MB swag wine opener that works wonders on the brew as well.
The wine stoppers are all classic MB shift knobs, btw. Pretty cool.

My favorite.

I also have one of these.... Cost me $7000.00, but it came with a free dirtbike.

And my brother gave me one of these. Except it came from Matco....

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to start cruising the scrap pile at my local garbage dump for a busted old chair so I can put the back on a stump that I already have in my yard.

Also, as I'm sure most of you already know, if the door latch on you rig's door frame is the square loop type as opposed to the stud type, you already have a factory bottle opener.....

Yep. And, the tarp hook on the back panel of an M416 works great also! You can also hang the garbage bag from it, and the caps drop in.

And the triangle opening on the cast lift part of a Hi-Lift, makes another great opener.

On my old Ford truck, I used the tail gate strap. The ends were oval, so they could be removed from the studs.
