That sounds odd, and certainly wasn't the case with the dealership local to us. But JLRNA was the reason the local dealership stopped selling LRovers, couldn't stand their showroom requirements.

It is definitely the case, we just had our quarterly "inspection"/audit by JLR and they always ask for proof of your most recent events. Invitations, guest list, receipts, etc. One event required per quarter, two per year must be driving events. It's "The Land Rover Way"!

Which I as a consumer appreciate.

I've done a couple put on my the local dealer here in Seattle. Always a great time.

And Evoques do amazing off road (excluding lack of TC and ground clearance). The LR2's on the other hand had to get a tow from my strap a couple times :)

I'm guessing you're talking about transfer case and not traction control, as traction control is the only reason it excels off road.

Is Rover consistent with ALL dealerships being required to do off-road events or just some? Several local dealerships around here have told me that haven't been required to do these events in years?

The LR2's days are numbered, especially with the popularity of the Evoque.

2013 LR2 is actually a pretty awesome little ride.

2.0L turbo from the Evoque, much improved interior and technology (especially keyless start), and sharp styling.

The LR2 was always a solid performer. Dead on reliable and capable in all weather conditions. It just lacked the X factor. It's amazing how little they had to change for 2013 to really make it a desirable car.

My wife loved the Evoque and we were all but done buying one, when they let us take one home for the weekend. Kids cannot see out of the back seat as the back seats are low and the door cards are high. Additionally with the way the roof slopes, the visibility out of one makes it limited.

When there to do the deal on the Evoque, they had a new 2011 LR2 service loaner with 12K miles on it. I overheard the lead tech speaking with the service writers about how the LR2 was the best truck LR ever made because they rarely see them in the shop. His comment was something to the effect that he was glad they weren't all made that reliable as the service department wouldn't have jobs!

So, in the end we got a smokin' deal on this new 2011 LR2 Green/tan. While it isn't as "sheik" as the Evoque, it certainly has plenty of visibility, plenty of room, only a few miles to the gallon less MPG. and many of the attibutes of the LR3. The other advantage was, ... the Evoque were were looking at was $47K. The LR2 we got was $29K.
Huge difference!

I can second the statements about reliability for sure. Dendy it sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the LR2 depending on equipment, and the green/tan is a nice combo. All of our service loaners are white/silver/gray/black which gets old after a while.

Yeah the LR2 is unreal reliable. Two people working here have newer models, they're never in need of service. The guy up at LR Scarborough was amazed by their reliability, it's a great vehicle for Land Rover to use as a loaner vehicle.

Want a testimate to it's quality? Stuff 1200lbs of Rovers Magazines in the back with a 200lb driver and drive on Rt. 128 in Vermont.
