new tires and winch

Rather than fool with new axles or adapters I just bought Jeep wheels for the trailer. I had some old 32 11.50.15 tires mounted on them.

Now I have to figure out how to carry the spare and get new fenders that are at least 14" wide. I am open to suggestions as to where I can find some fenders.

I found a small winch at Harbor Freight that was on sale and with a 20% coupon. I thought it could come in handy mounted on the front of my trailer. I also had a Mac's Tie Downs vice. I had both mounted on the tongue of the trailer.

I look at all the trailers you guys do and think how cool and want one. Then I think snap out of it man, you've got a truck with a camper. The wife's not going to buy the we need a trailer too argument.

I thought about that but I think I'll be wanting to winch towards something rather than away.

OK, I'll bite... what would you possibly need to winch from your trailer? Many years on the road and 20 yrs in the USMC... never wished I had a winch on a trailer? I realize I am missing something??? Not trying to be a wisearse just wonder why bother with the weight and other issues of a winch not secured to a truck and proper winch bumber but the front of a trailer?

It will be a God send when the situation presents itself when I'll need it. Like having a condom. Never expecting to use it but very happy to have it when the need arises.

Not trying to jump on the bus, but I'm thinking if the winch were set up to pull things on to the trailer might serve you better. Then it could double to winch it over if your in a tight spot. On the other hand, being able to winch itself up a hill without a vehicle might be one of those situations your thinking. Regardless, the whole set up looks cool!

Why does everyone criticize? If the dude what's a winch on his trailer then so be it. If you think it's stupid then so be it. But leave the fellow alone. the idea here is to share ideas. Not just criticize others for theirs. Winch on my friend.

Ha Ha funny how the simplest things get people all riled up. My question originally was to find a source for some wider fenders.

We have some blems on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251292162905?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649

But they are only 12.5" wide. We had to have a die made and our fenders stamped since there are not any off the shelf options wider than 10". For 14", you'll probably have to have a local fab shop make you up a pair custom.

Cool trailer!

a winch is not a bad idea on a trailer. however i would suggest making it a reciever mount hitch. and then add a reciever mount to the different areas you might be winching from on your trailer.

i have seen winches hanging wild game from gin poles for gutting. used for repositioning the trailer to get around trees on a trail. lots of uses. almost like a handiman jack
