You know Brenda? I met her many years ago in Arizona at Sands Chevrolet. Nice lady with an exciting job!
Well, I always have an opinion of something and my opinion of the Colorado/Canyon (or whatever they will be calling them when the day comes) is they are way too big. It seems pointless to me to offer a truck that is 7/8’s the size of a full-size Silverado. Look at that picture of the crew cab long bed (looks somewhat long like maybe 6 ft.?) Colorado….it is huge! Why does that big of “small” truck even need to exist? Dumb
When it comes down to it, a diesel Colorado will end up costing more than a well-equipped Silverado with a 5.3L. It will be fun to see how many diesel wishers actually put their money where their mouth is once they are available for purchase. I have heard many GM dealers are already complaining up the ladder through dealer council meetings that the new Colorado is too big with too much overlap to the Silverado. I agree!
I really wish GM, Toyota and Nissan need to get back to true small trucks like they offered 15 years go. These 7/8’s size trucks are not in the least bit desirable to me. A true small truck (the size of a pre-2005 Tacoma, S10, and Frontier) would be something I would be interested in.
One thing that is still puzzling me is what will become of the G-Van that is currently built in Wentzville, Missouri once they start building these anomalous trucks there. With the latest rumors of
GM may sell PSA Peugeot Citroen commercial vans in the United States leaves the uneasy feeling GM may be planning to join everybody else in ditching body on frame full-size vans for Eurovans. The death of the Express/Savana van looks inevitable. The really odd thing is the PSA Peugeot Citroen commercial van is made by Fiat and is being introduced in the US as a Ram Promaster right now. So, we may have two identical vans one wearing a Ram’s head and another wearing a Bowtie? Don’t get me wrong, I like the van but that would just be weird to have the same van marketed by two different competing companies albeit rumors are the GM version would be powered by a GM gas engine with a VM Motori diesel option whereas the Ram ProMaster launching now is powered by the Pentastar DI 3.6L with a Fiat diesel as an option. Odd there haven't been more reports on the fate of the Express/Savana at Wentzville yet though.
Oh, back to the Colorado….yeah, I don’t like the size of it. If I could wish a small truck to production this is what I would wish for…. The 2002 concept Dodge M80. The only problem is it was too big too (Dakota size). Been nice to see it go into production and be smaller than the Dakota. None the less, the M80 is still a neat little truck that would still look great today, and probably still better looking than whatever the Colorado/Canyon will look like once the camo is peeled off.
Even had a manual transmission with a real LEVER on the floor for 4wd…none of that electric shift BS.
