My Gen 2.5 build and Custom fabrication

Hey Everyone, I'm new here and this is a first post for me. I have had my montero for a little over a year now. Over this time I have done a few modifications to the rig, and will continue doing so until she's where I want her. Here are some pictures of what the truck throughout this last year

When I first got the truck it had a factory push bar, I removed it and fabricated my own. Here is the turnout, a little heavy for my liking and I will most likely change it up in the near future

Snow drifting in these suvs is too much fun

I wanted more storage and the ability for a roof-rack tent setup. So I Fabbed up a roof rack with a hi-lift mount, turned out extremely strong. Not the lightest rack but Its held 500 plus lbs on it no problem

The rock sliders and front bumper were fabricated using steel from an unused gym set I had in my back yard haha :p the sliders are pretty beefy. I've nailed rocks directly on them and the only damage was missing paint. Eventually I'll redo the sliders and bumper with a "lighter weight" mindset, as the current ones are quite heavy

My tires had taken a beating throughout the year, and it was time for some new shoes. I had bought a set of wheels off a friend for 40$ 10.5x15 inch with a deeper offset. I wanted the stance to be a little more aggressive so these wheels were perfect. Went to discount tire and had some new 33x12.5x15 wrangler duratrac mts put on. What do you think of the new stance? Feels really nice on the trail and a little less " tippy " feeling on hard flexing terrain

Removed the rear bumper, and started on chopping my rear quarters. Will be fabricating a new rear bumper here shortly, along with a rack ladder so I don't have to bust my hump getting up on my rack lol. Will post more pics with updates on snorkel install, 2" coil spacer install, custom exhaust and rack tent setup :) whoop whoop let some more fun begin!

Nice! Welcome to ExPo.

Looks like you're out west, where about? We have quite a few blokes here that live in Calistan.

Also, are those 33's or 35s on the truck? I can't quite tell. EDIT: I can't read either it seems! I'm interested to see your front bumper revision (I won't say it desperately needs it! ;) ) and what you come up with for a rear bumper.

Thanks LaOutbackTrail! I'm here in Dewey Arizona in the US. Yes the tires are 33/12.5/15s 10yeswheels.

I subconsciously must have wanted my truck to resemble a transformer or something, but yes, I'm fabbing a more lightweight bumper here soon haha :p

Welcome to the fold...looking forward to your future mods. I like look of the lower panels blacked out vs gray, what'd you use? Paint? Bedliner? Also, I'd like to see how you fit the snorkel to the air box under the hood, would be great if you could post a few pics if you have 'em.

I used plasti dip for the black areas on the truck, love the look/durability of it. I'll post more pics of the snorkel installation process, as well as my air box/filter setup :)

Double Checked hole location, rechecked and checked again, then Used a 3.75" hole saw to cut the fender.

These gen 3 snorkels don't fit without a little hacking. Nothing 5 minutes with a cutoff wheel can't handle

As you can see the inner pipe fits nice and snug once the body is cut

The hole going into the engine bay needs to be cut bigger to work with whichever snorkel you have. I just used my cutoff wheel.

Passenger side chopped quarter

I rolled and tacked each rear quarter , then I cut pieces out of the quarter panel sheet metal to cap each side. I used rubberized waterproof sealant to fill the cracks in between welds, then everything was prepped and sprayed with black plasti dip.
