Gear platform for TJ

Does any body have any ideas about building a platform in the back of a jeep TJ once you remove the backseat? I want it to be nice and be able to store my gear and restrain it while im on the trail. I also want to be able to keep stuff under it but i dont want it to be permanent. Pictures and measurements would help alot. Thanks.

Found material in the garage not being used .. did have to buy some parts ....

Used bungee cords for awhile, but have added a cargo safety net ... I'll try
to find the pics on that install .....

You cannot really see mine. I cut it from a piece of 5/8 plywood that I had lying around. It just sits on top of the wheel wells. Simaler to Rubicon4URE. I ran it for a year, but did not cover it because I wanted to make a few slight changes to it. I really like how Rubicon4URE has end pieces on his. I wish I had some better photos of mine... just a piece of plywood with cut to go around the roll bars.

I'm looking into doing this too. For the guys with soft tops...I see you have the platform extending all the way back. Do you remove the platform when the top goes down? I'd like to be able to leave mine in so I'm trying to think out how I could design it.

What Im thinking of is having two D rings mounted about 10 inches from either side to use as tie downs

Yes that would work i went on a 4 day offroading trip for the first time with the platform and i used bungee cords and hooked them under the lip of the body above the wheel wells and that worked great held everything down and gave me extra security incase the platform tried to pop up.

Why I thought of the D rings was because I thought of resting the platform on the bed rails and use the holes in the rails to bolt it down. Haven't done any measuring, but maybe that will work.

Its a 2x4 it fits right between the tailgate latch and roll bar, and yes it doesnt interfere at all with the softtop.
