Body Resting On Rock Sliders. Solutions?

So I shortened the rock sliders that I had cut off of my old tacoma and put them on my new tacoma. I tack welded everything in place and checked for clearance between the tube and bottom of the body. Had at least 1/2". When I went o finish welding I noticed the plate wasn't flush against the frame. I clamped it down with out rechecking clearances and went to welding. Well of course now the cab is touching the sliders on three of the perpendicular bars.

Cutting them back off is gonna be a major pain in the *** but I can't think of any other solution besides a body lift that I don't wanna do. Anyone have any other ideas that I may be missing? Thanks,

Joe

I would recommend cutting and rewelding. Driving on that even a short distance can cause damage. Just my take on it.

Ya, that's what I am thinking. Once again I will pay twice for rushing something. I remember a saying about "measure twice....."

you got a pic ?

Why not just trim the body slightly where it is resting on the sliders?

I hate to trike the pinch welds in that area as the tires throw water all over there. Also think I would need to trims quite a bit to gain the clearance need. Not too sure how I would get to the body around the sliders and cut it anyway.

is there any way to heat the bars coming off of the frame to the slider enough to bend them and get an inch of clearance? I think that I would try this before cutting and rewelding.

I hate to jump on the body lift bandwagon, but I'd likely throw a 1" Roger Brown bodylift at that and call it done.

I am gonna give grinding a shot. They are not fully welded on yet. Probably 50%. I had a Roger Brown lift on my other tacoma but I hate to lift a truck that doesn't need it to clear the tires. This will be option B. Thanks!

The only risk with grinding is that - IMHO - the bodies tend to flow a bit more than previous trucks (pre Tacoma).... So you may still have minor contact issues.

If they are ground off then they will stay off. Due to Trailgear only sending me 7 legs when I bought them two years ago they only have 3 legs per side. If I can get these off then I will sell them cheap and build my own with 4 legs per side.

In hindsight I shouldn't have even put them on. They were taking up space and and wanted them out of the way. Should have just sold them instead of trying to put them on.

My AP sliders were welded on, and the installer did not "clearance" the pinch welds. They would only make contact in certain situations, usually when loaded up and going down the road, but it was very annoying. I went after the contact areas with a dremel, grinder, cut off wheel, and a chisel. They look horrible, but I managed to get them done, and then hit them with some paint to prevent rust.
I'm not going to lie, there was a lot of cursing going on.
