I need suggestions. I am finishing the interior of my van and I need your guys advice. I need suggestions on floor? Thinking about some rubber penny floor or possibly rhino lining over plywood. Any possible source for materials would be helpful.
I need insulation and sound proof recommendations. Thinking about just dynamat?
Any possible source for materials would be helpful.
Wall material I am converting a panel van into a mainly passenger some times sleeper.
I need a lead or idea of the most comfortable sofa bed electric vs manual?

Types and sizes of inverters for compressor
Lights and charging power tool batteries
Maybe a small fridge.

Any other suggestions things I am missing from my interior build would be great too.
Thanks in advance!

Use the Search Luke

If you use the search function in the main header it will answer all of these questions and more, it's kind of like asking how many ways are there to skin a cat. The insulation question alone will stir up a weeks worth of debate and suggestions, flooring about the same, a "comfortable" sofa bed is an oxymoron, whether electric or manual :sombrero: lights, electrical, compressors all of it is here for your searching pleasure, just be fore warned it is a DEEP hole and many hours will be spent. Happy hunting, when you get some ideas then post them for "for or against" advise.

I need insulation and sound proof recommendations.

We recommend and sell 3M Thinsulate(TM) acoustic/thermal insulation engineered for vehicles. Safe, easy to install product that will reduce panel resonance, block/absorb noise and provide thermal R-value. Please PM, call or email to request samples or if you have any questions about usage or installation. We would be honored to help you with your build.

I need suggestions on floor?

We used ordinary latex porch paint on our OEM plywood floor. It has traction grit in it which is good when getting in/out with wet feet. We have area rugs and runners in the traffic/living areas. We shake the dirt/sand out regularly and replace them when they get tired. The floor is easy to sweep out (we also use a blower with all doors open) and can be repainted if needed. We thought about flooring but this has worked out great.

I'm still in your phase myself, but....

I have a bed rug vanrug "carpet" in the van and I love it, it's tough, and has 1/2" and 3/4" foam adhered to it, it's also not a carpet, but a polypropylene fiber. And it installed in 20 minutes, and was $175

I have a yet to be installed "Adrian steel poly liner kit" to put in. But first I have to do some wiring (lights, speakers, roof vent) and insulate (I have a mega roll of reflectix, and some foam board) but I keep looking at hein's product, and I know it's also what I should be using in addition to the other stuff, just haven't pulled the trigger/justified it to spend the $.

I'll be gettin cracking soon.

I have been searching for months and Haven't settled on anything yet. I figured that anyone who has been through this before might be willing to admit what they would or should have done along with giving a definitive opinion.
I am still searching now and I think as most of us on here will always be hunting something for these labors of love!

The labor NEVER stops only changes form
Here goes; Insulation, order a big roll of 3M from Hein according to the sales material it's the only insulation you need, everyone here who has it seems to like it.
pre wire for more then you think you will need; ie extra interior LED's, speakers, 120 etc you may not need them but will be grateful if you do and it's relatively inexpensive vs tearing apart an entire interior.
Get a Maxx Air or Fantastic Fan
Run 200/400 watts solar mated to some stout 6 volt golf cart batteries (Renogy seems popular or Goal Zero for an all in one systems) get a Xantrex 1000/1800 Watt puresine inverter
Flooring, something easy to sweep, maybe a little less aggressive than Linex, just remember that anything less than smooth will attract and keep dirt/sand :( so the less divits and davits the better
ARB Twin Screw Compressor
Again, there are no "comfortable" sofa/sleepers manual or electric
But the best advise is get in it, and use it, just the way it is, even if totally empty it will start sparking ideas.
Enjoy the process and keep us posted on how you progress!!!

X2 on this thought! We just spent the whole summer using ours just to figure out that lots of stuff we thought we needed we didn't really need

I ran some heavy rubber I found on amazon for the floor in my rig:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005SUKZJ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have liked it so far.

For the sound insulation I used what my friend calls "Redneck Dynamat". Its found in the roofing section of Home Depot and its called Peel and Seal. It worked really well on the walls but when it got over 100 it fall off of the roof.

Yea. Get out and use it before you build out.

Flooring really needs to be easy on the knees and bare feet. I'm using gym mat squares. Economical super easy to install and surprisingly durable. ( I like the coin mat idea though)

Refletix isn't meant to insulate, even the product says that, forget it! Works great and easy to work with.

First build had a fold up couch, never folded it up, always in bed mode. Now I have a fixed platform with lots of storage underneath. (There's just the two of us though)

Best mod: Swivel pass seat. Cab cover for front glass.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions Let keep them rolling.
I think I am decided on the 3m thinsulate.

Has anyone ever used led rope light around the edge of the interior of the van for lighting? I figured I could put it between the wall and head liner material?

A previous owner put some LED rope lighting like that in one of my vans and I love it.

I've got a roll of Costco Vinyl Garage floor mat to glue down on the floor. The 9'x12' roll should give me plenty of material... almost matches the aluminum checker plate, sweep/hose/wash out, smooth but shouldn't be slippery. Keeping with the Ambulance theme I wanted it to be easy to mop out and clean regardless of what goes sideways.

Thats a good idea! I never thought about using that and see it every time I go in. I just threw some stall mats down in my van for the ease of washing and what not.
