Keeping misc. things secure, what do you use?

I've been working on building my cabinets for awhile now, almost finished with the frame, and now I'm starting to think about drawers, big cargo areas, storing fragile things, etc..

What are some general strategies you use for keeping things secure? I'll have general cooking/eating utensils, computer/cameras/electronics, heavy bike/ski gear and tools, etc..

I was thinking of doing about half of my cabinets/cubbies with a mesh or cargo net in place of where a wood door would be.

My main concerns are keeping cabinet doors shut, i'll have both sliding pull out drawers, and normal hinge doors, with medium weight stuff potentially banging around. And keeping the big stuff secured, so ski poles, bike pump, loaded backpack's, wheels, tools, etc..
I'll have two bigger storage areas that are basically open space, by bigger i mean compared to the rest of my van, so actually pretty small, 11"x42"x about 4ft tall. and a 12x10 that wraps around a corner to a 8x10, also about 4ft tall. i want to keep things in there as compact as possible and very secure.
I was thinking of those backpacking style gear straps/compression straps, hard mounted into the walls, so i can cinch them against the walls.

Any other ideas or tricks you use?

are you talking secure from movement or secure from theft?

If the latter, keeping valuable gear out of sight as much as possible. And if it can't fit in a lockable space, then at least covering goods in a tarp or moving blanket or via some other means.

Take a look at RV and boating cabinetry. Lots of methods to latch drawers and drawers, keep them shut while the vehicle / vessel is lurching around. Or even use some child-proofing hardware.
