I want to let you all know that we have a new shipment of RV / overland build components coming in mid February. During our recent trip to China, we had a chance to see and test a number of items that looked great for Overland use. We now have two entry door offerings, and both are solid, secure units. We also found heavy duty cargo access doors. These were so impressive that we are bringing in a complete line of them. Aside from being amazingly stout, I loved the German made rotating draw latches. These latches pull the door snug after rotating into the lock position. We are also bringing in a new roof hatch that measures 500 x 700mm. It is available with electric or manual drive. The electric version uses a Bosch drive motor! You never know what you will find poking around a Chinese factory, but I spotted some really nice water and electrical pass-throughs. Turns out they get these to supply some of their high end industry customers. They are German made as well, and I was able to add them to our shipment. The domestic water and electrical pass-throughs are junk by comparison. These aren't on our website yet, but look for them soon.

We spent over a week talking to their engineers, touring the factory, and taking stuff apart to see how it was made. All of our Arctic Tern items will be custom spec'd for us, which means you will have access to the best products for the demands of overland use. We also got training on certain repair procedures that were not obvious. This gave us the chance to list out all the parts we will need, to offer complete support to our customers.

We didn't set out to be importers, but in our search for quality items for our own builds, we realized just how bad the problem here was. Trying to import quality items for a few builds was way too costly, and we could forget about any kind of service after the sale. We ended up ordering extras for people here to see if the interest existed for a US supplier of quality components. Clearly, we were not the only ones ready for some better options without blowing our budget on expensive imports.

Here are a few pics that I snapped at the factory of the water and electrical pass-throughs. The water cap is locking, and can be keyed to match our doors and hatches. The electrical receptacle and plug are sold separately, so that you can have more than one input into your rig. The male plug snaps on much like a trailer connection, so it is very secure. The water pass-through is for bulk filling, and features a sturdy cap with rubber seal, similar to a gas cap. Both have covers to keep them clean. Both are super sturdy; nothing like the chintzy RV parts you find here. You guys are the first to see them!

The water door is very interesting, especially as it is locking. Looking at marine water fills for a long time and found none that were... Thanks !

Just to be clear, the lock is in the cap, not in the door. It is not a cheesy little lock either. It is the same barrel mechanism and heavy duty key that is used in the cargo and Euro entry doors. I can match all the locks to one key number for a low fee. Having unlocked water entry always makes me uneasy. My camp trailer just has a little flip lid, and someone could toss in a cigarette butt without thinking twice. A real vandal could do far worse.

Price for the water entry and lock barrel (no key) is $49. The keys are $5 each. I price them separately because anyone who has a matched entry door or cargo door, already has keys.

It's pretty good size, but I don't have one in hand yet to measure. Are you talking OD or ID? It think 1 1/2 OD would certainly fit. Usually when you quote hose size it is ID though

Sadly Frank, we get a lot of calls from people with the "other" brand, wondering whether our parts interchange. They do not. The best we can do is find a window of similar size. The parts issue was a big deal to me. When we visited the manufacturer recently, one condition that I had was availability of reasonably priced replacement parts. He was literally shocked. Nobody carries parts. If you break something, you buy a new window. Some dealers will tell you they have parts, but they charge you 90% of the cost of the whole window to replace one major part. Then there is the whole issue of months to get it! We literally had to figure out pricing, packaging, and everything because we are his only buyers interested in stocking parts. As an example, a 550 x 700 window sells complete for $319. A replacement glazing for that window sells for just $130. The glazing is the most expensive single part of the window, but we have pricing to keep repairs reasonable. We also maintain a stock of three spare glazings for every size we sell. If you break one, we can have another one to your door in 3 to 5 days by ground shipping. We also stock latches, weather stripping, blind/screen assemblies and virtually every small part you might need, down to the rivets. For parts with electrical components, we carry all the circuit boards, harnesses, motors, everything.

We realized that availability of complete windows was just part of the problem that people faced here in North America. The other is horrendous service after the sale. We want to make sure that people know that we are not cast in that mold! Our customers can rest easy that they won't end up with orphan products. We have many OEM builders using our windows now as well. They rely on us too. Our cost for this inventory is significant, since most of these items will sit for a long time. It is part of our commitment to doing this better.
