New Outlander Sherpa II

Well along with WFTW I am having Robert at Outlander Trailers currently make me a Sherpa II RL. My only stipulation was it had to meet the wife's budget :sombrero:. It is currently being built and I thought that I would stop hijacking his thread and just start my own! :wings:

I am having it powder coated black on black.
A few key specs and extras on it:
-3500# axle with 6 on 5.5 lug pattern to match my Toyota Tow vehicles
-Black Pacer "D" hole wheels to match the wheels on the Taco
-7 Pole connector to vehicle for constant power for future electrical system
-LED Brake/Turn Signal Lights
-Load Adjusting Coil over shocks
-33"x12.50"x15" Mud Grips
-Receiver hitch neck so that I can slide in any hitch that I want and extend the tongue length.
-Receiver hitch on the back to mount my Freedom Grill
-Currently ordering a Tongue Box and Side Kitchen Box from Northern Tool.

Pics of the build so far, should be getting powder coated on Thursday and I can pick her up in a week or so!

I will be mounting my Mombasa roof top tent on top. :D

Here is a pic of the Tow Vehicles, the Taco is my true wheeling rig (the beater) while the FJC is for running stuff like the Alpine Loop in Colorado and light trails in comfort...

I didn't realize yours would be done so quickly...very nice! The trailer is looking good...like the coil over shocks.

One of the great things about these trailers is you can get the basic design at first, and then go back to Robert for future upgrades later (like the solar panels, electric additions, etc). Sort of like a vehicle...just add as you go. I'd like to see pictures once you get it all set up with the tent, grill, kitchen box, etc on it. Do you know how much it will weigh empty?

Well my trailer is a pretty basic trailer. I wanted a lot more but the wife put down a budget and I had to stick to it, so I am sure he could build mine a lot quicker than yours without all the extra special order items.

I have no clue how much it will weigh. That is my plan is to just add little things on my own as I go. With Robert all the way in Arkansas I don't see myself going back to him for upgrades but I will definitely be doing my own upgrades along the way i.e. Lock n' Roll, Electrical System, Lighting, Jerry Can Holders, and awnings. :victory:

Ok time for an update. I was supposed to pick up this trailer last weekend but the painters decided to screw up when they painted it. Robert (outlander Trailers) just picked it up after they corrected the Paint job last night. He will be finishing the trailer out today and sending pics tonight. Tomorrow I head out of Dallas at the butt crack of dawn to go to Arkansas to pick up my very own expedition Trailer. Should have it home tomorrow night. :smiley_drive:

Also I placed an order with Northern Tool last night (gotta love gift cards) for a few odds and ends to begin the build on this trailer, including a Weather proof Battery Charger/ Maintainer

and a Truck box that I plan on mounting over a fender.

I also ordered a couple of Seven Pole Connectors for the Trucks and a magnetic Led Utility light for inside the Trailer for temporary use until I complete the design and implementation of my electrical system.

I also picked up a couple of Scepter fuel cans and fuel can mounts for the trailer :wings:

Next on the list will be one of these:

Due to budgetary constraints this build is going to be full of different looking Odds and ends but I will make it all look good together.

Cool.

Can you talk about your decision to use after market boxes rather than the ones that Outlander offers?

Sure. The wife told me had to keep it within a certain budget (this trailer to be exact) so that is the trailer I ordered. Due to my company doing a large volume of business through Northern Tool I receive Quarterly Credits to use on whatever I like, call it kick backs if you will. I just had one come up and decided to use the credit on anything I could get from Northern for the Trailer. Now that I have the trailer in my possession I think I will cancel the side box order as it will be too wide and try to look for another bolt on solution from them. If I can't find something I will just save up for a little while and get Robert to build me a couple of boxes in a couple of months.

Speaking of which I just got home after 10 hours on the road today to get the Trailer. Robert is a GREAT guy, truly took care of me. I took lots of pics of the Trailer and WFTW's Trailer for everyone to see. I will tell you what if anyone wants ideas on how a trailer should be set up look no further than WFTW's thread. It is going to be awesome when done.

At Taco bell on the drive home, snapped this with my cell phone... I will get the pics off of my camera on monday when I have access to my memory card reader.

-Swing Away tire Carrier
-Propane bottle mount
-Slide away tongue box mount.

Whats the purpose of shocks and leaf springs on the same axle on your truck????

Thats a redundant answer. I have Leaf Springs and Shocks. U have leaf springs and coil springs with shcocks(coil overs) on the same axle. Why do you have 2 different type of springs on the same axle.
