Side Molding

What is everyone's thoughts on taking them off/keeping them on. I want to know what you think in general, as if it was your own. I know from a protection stand point it's a step back, but aesthetically I think it would look quite nice. I have sense taken the fender flares off of my truck due to weathering, and in doing so, realized that they complemented the molding quite well. With them gone, there's the definite sense of something missing.

I know the DI crowd can pull it off, but I have never seen it done on a DII to my knowledge.

Post pictures, share opinions, and lets get a good discussion going because I'm sure this topic has been on someone's mind!!

It will only look nice until somebody whacks your door. I've owned one car without ding guards, and don't wish to do that again.

That's a valid point. I know it's a protection down grade but unless someone swings a door I don't think there could be too much damage, nothing that couldn't be buffed out. I mean how much would it really protect the door? I guess it is more for paint

I'm not sure that I'm that keen on the side moldings without the wheel arch moldings. I'd say 86 'em. Although I'd check a parts catalog to see how they're attached. If it's just adhesive, pull them off. If there are holes drilled into the side to fix them, it might look a bit "kludgy" with them.

FWIW - I think all of the base model "S" DIIs came w/o them.

That's what I was wondering. I know some DIs would have the holes when pulled off. I'll have to look at it tomorrow. Thanks for all the feedback! Keep it coming!

It's just double sided tape. I say leave those and tear off the fenders ;)

BTW, IMO there's no upside or downside to leaving them or removing them. It's barely a little strip! There's no protection...lol

The fenders are gone, I just can't get the idea of removing the molding out of my head. I worry though that it might look wasted out, being a light color. That's what I've always thought too, they offer no further protection.

Anyone have anymore pictures of DII's without them?

My DII doesn't have them either. Now that your fender flares are gone I think the mouldings look out of place. This is the best picture I could find of the side of my truck. My flares and running boards are gone now.
