I don't have a jeep, but that definitely is cool. If these units are decently priced (which is unlikely, but I'll be optimistic for you Jeep guys :p) they will sell like crazy.

Neat idea and one a lot of us could get behind. I wonder if they will import it here and if our gas engines can haul it as well as the diesels they are going to put it on.

I have no doubt at all that this will be beautifully made and designed; equally I have no doubt that it will be horribly expensive!

Another very cool product that the Euro folks are willing to pay for AND get the time off work to enjoy.
I hope they do well as a company as it helps all of us to have more creative solutions out there.

It's interesting that they have removed the roll cage. From what I gather from my colleagues in Europe modification of the existing vehicle from a safety perspective is no longer allowed by European standards.

The manufacturers of vehicle tops like this are now working in a gray area, not quite certain if they are legal or not. It will be interesting what happens with this in the future as most of the pop top build done in Europe require removal of structural parts of the vehicle.

In talking with potential importers of the JK Habitat to Europe the fact that we don't modify the structure of the vehicle was a big plus. It's evident that the resellers in Europe are aware of the contradiction in regulations, and also interesting that the manufacturers are still pushing ahead hoping for the best.

I would assume the fact that the rear seats are removed allows for the removal of rear passenger safety equipment.

Assuming of course that the safety of the front driver/pass. are addressed.

I'm sure it has to go through countless inspections, etc.

As the jk hab keeps rear passenger accomodations its a different story.

You may well be correct. The roll cage does however extend the whole length of the interior of the vehicle from the windscreen back to the rear door.

They gray area may well be that it hasn't been through countless inspection because of the way the current regulations are written. It's a hard thing to tell.

Aside from these concerns it's a wonderful design and use of space.

Well...they claim that it only adds 200kgs(400lbs)and you don't have to carry it with you all of the time as it is slide-on.

Since there are only renderings (I didn't see any pictures of real ones) it seems safe to think that they haven't actually had one built to be inspected, no?

In looking at the pictures I thought the 400lbs was pretty optimistic and then you also need to add in the weight of your equipment and supplies.

They say that if you take off OEM hard top, rear seat etc and add this ,the
difference is 200kgs.(Still optimistic)...
Supplies you take with you anyway, right?
